ADEMED in the front line of disasters preparedness

On 1st of June 2019, ADEMED endorsed the Basque Declaration. The Basque Declaration outlines new pathways for European Cities and Towns to create productive, sustainable and resilient cities for a liveable and inclusive Europe.

The document aims to support and accelerate socio-cultural, socio-economic and technological transformation. The Basque Declaration was signed in preparation of the 8th European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns held in the Basque Country from 27-29 April 2016.

The ADEMED endorsed the Declaration as a follow-up if its preoccupation in smart cities, smart energy and as an expression of its interest in disaster resilience building.

Disaster management is of crucial relevance in Romania, which experiences frequent earthquakues, floods and landslides.

ADEMED is fully committed to cooperate in the activities targeting disasters preparedness, intervention and recovery, both in Romania and at European scale.

In Romania, ADEMED plans to develop open source disaster intervention tools and educative installations. At European Union scale, ADEMED initiated a research proposal to use Artificial Intelligence to disaster preparedness activities.
